Ok I am confused ... is it Pro Bono or No-Win No-Fee.

No-Win No-Fee is completely different to Pro Bono ... well it is if my grasp of the English language is correct.

Heh ... maybe it is just me ... *shrug* ... /me checks his medication. [-o<

Bruce keeps poking his head out from behind the parapet. Even when massive opinion is against him, rather than focus his energies elsewhere he persists in shouting down accusations even when we can all see the cause is futile.

And I'm not referring to the Evony situation but the TCE reaction!

Bruce, for pity's sake, just withdraw from this discussion/debate/flaming row while there is still a shred of dignity to be retained. Again, I refer to this thread and not your Evony action. The latter is entirely your prerogative.

    gambling implies you can lose.

Is there a lose option on the "roulette wheel"?

Actually there isn't a loose option ... you just might not get a very useful item.

For instance ... you might get 40 000 food instead of the cool Banner you want. It is all random though and you can't predict what you get ... you just get whatever it lands on and and those things change between each spin.

that guy has 1 member, kinda the opposite of what you are suggesting.

On one hand you argue against your own censorship and then on the other hand you try to censor others?

which is it? Censorship of everyone or no-one.?

To me that screenshot proves that people aren't generally racist or that clan would have more than one member.

you will also find clans on evony that will target racist clans .. i prefer community ran censorship, personally.

In WoW you can go on a raid and roll for items you want. You might end up winning nothing the whole night. That's as much gambling as what's described to be in Evony.

Except that in Evony you can play the roulette game with Amulets which cost 50C of real money.

Except that in WoW you must pay a monthly subscription in order to be able to do ANYTHING. That monthly subscription is in real money too. Micro transactions are NOT illegal.

And again, thanks for giving a great example of how you ignore hard questions and latch to those you (think) you can answer. I'm utterly fascinated by you. I don't think the discussion includes you anymore as far as most people here are concerned. We're mostly discussing it amongst ourselves, both amused and shocked by your actions.

I really am curious to see how it all ends... It's like watching one of those big set piece death traps in Final Destination being put into place.

I asked it before: SO? You can play lucky dip at any village or school summer fair you care to attend, and that costs real money too.

Until you show that you have read and understood what we have told you bruce, you are simply demonstrating that you don't understand what you are talking about.

You're really not getting this Bruce - unless there is a way to cash out your winnings into real world currency, this isn't gambling in any useful sense of the word. There are specific rules governing games of chance, both online and off, and in my experience of those rules, Evony isn't breaking them.

It's just like any other game, you pay to play it, and your only reward is in-game recognition. Just because you buy items rather than buying play-time, doesn't make it any more like real world gambling. Gambling is when you risk some currency you have, for the expectation of winning back more currency.

Anyway, I don't know why I'm trying to make this clear to you. You seem to be persisting with this, I can only imagine because you think that somehow the silent majority here are on your side, and it's only this "cabal" of people that disagree with you. I can tell you now, no-one, in the members section or out here in the public forums, is taking your side, even though none of us are particularly impressed by Evony's actions.

If you continue defending this legal action that's up to you, but don't for one minute dream that the silent masses of developers here are standing with you.

Using that argument, surely EVERY game out there is 'gambling'. You pay real world money (£39.99) to 'own virtual items' (guns/blue hedgehogs/premiership soccer teams).

It's not like I can get Arsenal to the top of the league and then sell them on for 3/4 billion pounds.

He's the same over at rllmukforum stating how the quiet lurkers are behind him even thought EVERYONE who has posted has said otherwise.

And it's harsher in there than in here. He has half of them on ignore because he thinks that everyone who isn't with him is a rude 14 year old.

It's been amazing to follow. Really cheered up a dull day.

Direct link please? It looks like it's been deleted. I did a search and found the header, but it leads me to an error message.

Does this mean I have to take CCP to court now?

I have been playing Eve Online for about 6 weeks now and I need to now actually buy some Eve Time ... I mean can you believe the sheer nature of these people ... making me pay to play a game that was born from the fruits of their hard labour ... I mean how dare they.

Sorry admins ... I couldn't resist. I'll shut up now and return to my corner. :(
