plugin3D has just been released by Cubicspace and we've made it FREE...ish*.

    What does it do?

plugin3D allows you to provide your customers with a single standalone executable which runs your art and design content as a realtime interactive 3D scene.

    plugin3D features:

    • A GPU based 3D engine running inside a WYSIWYG Max viewport.
    • Create scenes inside Max and preview them inside the 3D engine.
    • Export your 3D work into an interactive standalone executable in under 10 seconds.
    • Seamless GPU shader support for 95% of the Max material system including multi-sub and composite materials.
    • Artist friendly - no scripting or complex controls - just a single click to add content inside Max.
    • Dynamic updates which doing tasks like boolean operations or vertex editing.
    • Several fully customisable camera modes including collisions and gravity.
    • Scene performance metrics.
    • Complex scene interactions can be created using a full featured event and trigger system.
    • Animation support.
    • Add your own 2D user interface HUD with pushbuttons linked to events.
    • and lots more.

We do have a couple of computer games companies who use our software to produce walkthrough scenes for proof of concept work and to presumably show their publishers art content before their game is stable enough.

*We've changed our licencing model: we give you plugin3D to use in Max for free but pay $99 to distribute executables created with our software.

BTW - I'm a full member but want to retain a bit of anonymity. The admins know who I am (I hope they haven't forgotten)
