Hello, still waiting for access... it's been months now. Re-sent an email last week to the webmaster.

    Thanks!

    Maybe this is why?

It's kind of difficult to see what a recruiter could bring to the private forums TBH.

    From http://www.thechaosengine.com/articles/articles.php?pg=1&file=howtojointce:

Perhaps, just perhaps, you realize you're a recruiter and as such won't get access as per the above?

Before you guys get all high and mightly on yourselves, there was a conversation a while back to allow some recruiters here in order to:

    1) help TCE members find new positions
    2) post up career advice (such as resume writing suggestions)
    3) answer questions about changing jobs (relocation, negotiation, etc.)

Let the directors handle it, rather than going off and quoting outdated guidelines.

    I am not

general public - although I do count myself as a member of general society
a recruiter - although I do employ casual QA staff occasionally
upper management - although I do know some upper management types
marketing - although I wouldn't admit to this, even if I was
    a journo - no comment

I am a member of the gaming community and have been for almost 10 years in the UK and Australia
I have emailed the webmaster with all the personnal data needed to spam the crap out of me for the rest of my life

Why am I still waiting to be granted access...... what is this? Some kind of sick door bitch humour or something????

The rules on membership are very clear, you have to be a games developer, coder/artist/design/production/QA or a high ups beaatch..but not a grassing tell all beaatch, just a do what your told and get the coffees in beaatch

You must be working for a development company either currently or in the recent past, or be a known freelancer.
You can prove this by suppling a verifiable email at a known games company, or having someone already on here vouch for you as a genuine games developer.

What do you mean when you say a member of the gaming community, thats a bit vague?

There is always a backlog, Photon, is an especially lazy bugger, who is prone to near death illnesses from time to time so he can't always be arsed to check the applications on a daily basis, we tried getting a few others in to check emails but there results are as you can see...shit..tbh its more fun letting you bang on the doors for a few months 1st :)

"Member of the gaming community" is such a broad term. 'Gaming' makes me think 'gamer'. :-k

Okay, so I don't work for a developer at the moment. I used to though. I work for the other side. Although I think it's wrong to promote the divide between publishers and developers. We're all trying to make games here folks...let's hug.

I'm a gamer as well as a member of the gaming community. Although I don't spend hours sitting in front of WoW in a stained pair of Y-fronts.

I'm not a "just do what you're told" kind of guy. I'm a "I'm not doing that and if that's a problem for you then f*&k off" kind of guy.

Baboon, you LOVE IT! Don't pretend you don’t. OK firstly, just because you worked for years in games localization, doesn't mean you're in the industry. Just because you've worked on more stuff than probably 90% of us, doesn't mean you should have access to an industry forum. Just because you work for a publisher, doesn't mean you're one of us. Just because you've worked for stacks of companies in more than one country, that doesn't mean you have experience.

    ... ;)

Can we just let this guy in?? I can vouch for him. He IS in the industry and I've worked with him personally so I can't see why there's a problem.

Publishers develop games too...so thats not a problem, just depends what your role is at the publisher if its marketing or upper managment, get yourself to a nunnery for some solice, you'll get none here
