Pretty funny coming from somebody just returning from a ban for spamming.

Look at the definition of spamming, you do it, I don't.

I got banned because certain people kicked up a fuss about me C&Ping the occasional article here.

Articles which proved to be of great interest to the members here and which started good discussions of the subject.

That is not spamming. And C&Ping into here is done by tons of other people.

 

So if there were a poll asking whether you were a spammer or not the people on this forum would overwhelmingly say you're not?

 

Not necessarily. As is amply evident on this thread there are quite a few misguided people here. So any poll would be derisory.

Actually the activity of a small number of anti Bruce activists harms the whole forum and every member.

For instance there is a great video on my blog today: Sex and violence in video games, an animated history.
And the Duke Nukem disease video on the 5th.

But I don't bring you these gay joys and you lose out.

Stop it everyone!. Why should every thread where Eclectic appears, it needs to turn into some kind of mini-war where people try to prove that He is the scum of the earth.

I think there's an interesting discussion to be had about those games (Evony). There are no interesting discussions to be had about eclectic.

I was interested in the game becaus of the attractive drawing of elegant women... I haven't considered playing the game anyway but I sure know about Evony because of those. (actually, I know nothing of the game, just that it exists.).

Eclectic, I agree with people sniffing some contradiction here, you were defending volition's use of Tera Patrick. I agree it's different than on Evony (there were depiction of sexyness in Saints Row) but the use of Tera Patrick referred to a less elegant representation of sex than those static evony ads..

other than that, If you think that those game will ruin the game industry.... well, no. I don't think they can.

 

I think we're missing a golden opportunity here. Let's create a game called "Span of Commonwealth" and start hiring the great unwashed of the UK as gold farmers. That would keep them off the streets, the BNP happy and Bruce won't need to complain about the lack of a games industry in the UK.

We then start spamming China with scantily clad women in adverts saying 'Come over to my place and click me' driving them to our new browser-space game.

In all seriousness, we can't stop stupid people surfing to that URL and getting their MSN cleaned out. It's why we only write "Mind the Gap" not enforce it

What I don't understand, given how blatant the theft of content from Civ 4 is, is why Firaxis hasn't spoken to Google about getting this advertising campaign shut down. Or perhaps they have, and Google ain't interested. Seems very odd to me.

 

Firaxis probably have better things to do than try to retaliate against a company in China breaking it's copyright - mostly because that's a completely pointless excercise.

It shouldn't have taken Firaxis complaining to get Google to do something. According to Ecletic's links many people who run sites have been complaining to Google that they are unable to block the Evony ads as inappropriate for their sites.

This seems to be a complete breakdown of how Adsense is supposed to operate. If someone can use it to spam large numbers of a single type (e.g. games related) of site, and Google doesn't notice, or give the appropriate tools to block it, then people just won't be able to use Google Adsense.

It's even worse that a company can apparently skirt Google's rules and not have action taken against them. There are a lot of scammers out there who are going to see what's happening and decide to get a piece of the action.

Ah, checking the AdSense forum page, it has now been escalated to the Adsense support team as of the 15th.

 

And Bruce is on there!

 

I notice the tits have been removed from the adverts this morning ...:-(
