Evony threaten to sue me to suppress the truth.

I have written a number of articles telling the truth about what Chinese gold farmers are doing with the game Evony. What I wrote was the truth and is supported by massive evidence from elsewhere. They are just trying to bully me, for instance threatening to sue in Australia in order to make things as difficult as possible. And it is ironic that they try to use the legal system against me when they blatantly stole other people’s game mechanics and graphics in order to make Evony. Also I wonder if they are trying to be so heavy handed against the Guardian? And cheek of all cheeks they are trying to deny comment spamming this blog.

 

I swear, the only posts that happen in the public section of this forum are spam bots selling WoW gold and Bruce spamming about bots making WoW gold.

You may now get your chance to prove your claims in a court of law! (In Australia, mind). You probably won't be able to get away with linking to previous posts when making arguments, btw.

 

Is Tim Langdell part of Evony then?

Good luck with this, Bruce. I think you might be biting off more than you can chew as defending your position and proving your case might be difficult and will certainly be expensive.

What you do on your own blog is entirely your business but to freely use TCE as an instrument of your publicity has now come home to roost as this forum has been cited in the letter and we are now unwitting 'accomplices' to your accusations.
Personally, I think it would be a fair gesture if you were to remove all of the Evony-related posts you made from this forum. This would not be an admission of guilt on your part, but merely a gesture of respect to the TCE members who would happily welcome restoration of the articles once you had successfully defended your case.

As you know, TCE has anonymous participants from the games development industry and if this case even slightly runs the risk of damaging the long-term future of this forum then I personally do not think it a risk worth taking... and I would hope you feel the same.

I have little doubt that the TCE members will support you in whatever way we can but you need to demonstrate a little good faith by considering this request.

I am copying this to some of the TCE mods and respectfully suggest that if Bruce is unwilling to comply then perhaps the thread in question can be substituted with a simple link to the relevant page on Bruce's site...?
I am 110% against censorship of any kind but if there is even the remotest possibility that TCE could be shut down as a result of this lawsuit then this is a no-brainer.

We have a major 'cause celebre' taking place in the Private Forums at the moment, for which I am sure most members would be willing to take the bullet. However, as Bruce has been using this public area as a unilateral self-promotional tool then I don't believe this request is unreasonable.

I really do wish you the best with this, Bruce. Please do the right thing by TCE, though. Thanks in advance.

Bruce - you should ask these lawyers for clarification what plaintiffs in Australia they represent. Evony don't have any registered business there, so cannot claim to have be damaged there. If of course you don't just reply with a much, much briefer reply.

What's the point? He had that condition before, and ignored it so got excluded. And he's shown no sign of abiding by it now he's only in the public section.
