Back in Ireland for the Christmas and it turns out that the child of a family friend is looking at applying for this course ( Carlow IT Online Prospectus Link ).

Before I jump straight to my usual knee-jerk games courses are a waste of time and you're better off getting a general CS degree, has anyone got any experience of the course or graduates from it?

Hello, Irishman (and product of the Irish education system ) here. Although the situation has improved somewhat in recent years, the "ITs" are generally considered 2nd-rate institutions compared to the "Us" (Trinity College, UCD, DCU, UL, NUIM, UCC etc.) - it's only in recent years the ITs have been able to award bachelor degrees. I would advise your friend to try either for a game dev degree at one of the universities, or just do a general comp sci degree.
