Well, it's very slick, love the graphical style.
How long did it take him?
And tell us all he's fugly and the girls hate him and all your other students are rubbish :D

I'm not normally a fan of virtual controls, mainly because it's mostly messed up - but this is done very well, very well indeed.

My only gripe would be the rotation of the players ship, I'm guessing it's a sprite due to it's limited rotations? If it's not I'd suggest smoothing out the rotation. But I'm nit-picking, it really is extremely well done

Part time about 9 months, while at the same time doing well with his studies.

He has done an excellent job and kept it under wraps till it was nearly done before going to get opinions and play test from his colleagues.

Fugly...ermm well from a manly mans opinion, he's an acceptable looking young man, but I can't comment on his girl attracting prowess....probably spends too long in front of a mac to get any :D

Oh...and he's in the top 10 of my students.....

That looks very cool - uber kudo's to him, I'll definitely grab a copy despite it not being particularly a genre I'm usually attracted to ...

A dual stick shooter, for a platform with no sticks. Interesting design decision.

Probably more of a fan of that genre..there are a few geometry wars type games on the app store and clealry its popular. I notice a lot of hobby games reflect the makers preferences for play rather than sound design decisiosn.

He did a damn good job of it though.

I'm going to show the video to my students - should make a few wannabe programmers out of them ;)

Looking good Brian, grats to you and your guys.

I like it - reminds me of mutant storm, but it does suffer from not having a physical interface. I think there's maybe a bit too much in terms of UI on the screen as well, but overall very polished and good looking! Plays nice too :)

    Any idea of sales figures?
Would be interesting to know figures from a 'quality' game :)

Yeah, I meant with his permission :)

Perhaps we need another thread for sales figures tied in with type of app.
I'm always hearing that putting stuff on the AppStore yourself doesn't earn enough to live off. And yet there's plenty of companies/people who pay developers to write stuff. It's a wonder how those who pay the developers manage to a living.

It looks really good, impressive :)

I'm not a huge fan of iphone games with a virtual game pad for controls, but I guess with a dual stick shooter it's unavoidable.
